FIRST OF ALL, UK CUSTOMERS,
PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM MY ETSY STORE…
Here’s why…
Earlier this year I signed up to the ‘Free US Delivery’ programme on Etsy. Essentially, this means that any of my items flagged for free delivery get priority placement in their system. This has never really sat too well with me, because at almost £60 (approx $80USD) to ship to the States, there’s no way I can eat that cost, so that £60 got added to the item price. Simple enough, right?
Wrong!
While it’s true that most of my customers are based in the US, a small few do come to me from the UK and it’s not fair for them to have to pay the same £60 shipping that my US customers do. As Etsy do not seem to offer country specific pricing, and as the free US shipping thing is working pretty well for me I have made the following decisions.
- My Etsy store will no longer serve the UK. There’s no way around it. The way things are at the moment are not fair to my UK customers and that’s just not good enough. Customers in the US still have the option of shopping there or here.
- This site, www.peculiartifacts.co.uk will serve both UK and US customers, and where possible will be a little cheaper than Etsy.
- All commission work will be handled through this site and not through Etsy.
- All prices will include UK shipping. Shipping to the States will be added at the checkout.
- The protections that Etsy offer all customers through their site apply here. The house rules are the same whether you’re here or there.
All of these changes will come into play in the next week and hopefully will balance things out a little bit. I’d love to see more of my work at UK conventions.
